Plant Intelligence, Breath & the Nervous System speak the same language
A few days into our time in the jungle, and with our third Ayahuasca ceremony coming up tonight, one thing has become crystal clear to both of us. Plant intelligence does not force you to change. It’s a relationship, not a forceful push.
The master plants we’ve been dieting with aren't here to blast us open or fry our nervous systems. They work way more subtly than that. They support the body so we can look at the heavy stuff with a bit more steadiness and awareness. The plants meet you exactly where you are. They don’t demand perfection, but they do match the energy, presence, and responsibility you bring to the table.
It’s a huge reminder that the medicine doesn't do the dishes for you. It creates the right environment, but you still have to show up and do the actual work.
The more time we spend here, the more this whole process mirrors what we do with breathwork. We’ve never viewed breathwork as something we "do" to people like a mechanic fixing a car. The breath listens to the body and only goes as deep as the nervous system allows. When you respect it, it stops being about chasing a dramatic breakthrough and becomes about creating safety.
In Western culture, we are completely obsessed with the fast track. Everyone wants the instant healing, the overnight transformation, and the giant spiritual high, but nobody wants to do the boring groundwork that allows those changes to actually stick around. True depth doesn't come from a single crazy night; it comes from consistency and tending to your inner world over time. Transformation isn't something that just happens to you while you lie there. It’s a relationship you actively participate in by being willing to soften, listen, and stay in your body.
